Halifax Tourism

One of the great things about the east coast is the abundance of great tourist attractions it provides. Halifax, the heart of Nova Scotia, is no exception. Not only does the city have lots of historical things to do, it also provides tons of seasonal jobs for the local economy. If you just sold your natural baby products business and are looking to buy some real estate in Halifax and start a new career, the tourism industry may be a great place to start. Or, if you have your career in check, you should look into all of the great attractions that Halifax has to offer after you purchase some lovely waterfront real estate.

The most widely known attraction in the city is the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. 'The Hill', as the locals refer, has been commenced as a nationally significant symbol of Halifax's role as a naval station in the British Empire and of the city's importance to Canada's development and evolution from colony to nation. Aside from the Citadel itself, there are lots of different museums like The Army Museum and The Tides of History. Whatever you do, make sure you take your TREO leather pouches stocked with room on the camera because doing a tour of the Halifax Citadel can be a full day adventure.

Maybe historical sites aren't your cup of tea but you still want to experience a bit of culture that the city has to offer. Why not take some time off from the women's online clothing store and take a tour of the Alexander Keith's Brewery. Is it somewhere you want to take your children? Probably not. But, as the commercials say, Alexander Keith's is the pride of Nova Scotia and it's great to experience the evolution of something the province is very proud of. The brewery offers some history of the beer, tours of the brewery, and of course, a wide range of beers to sample.

You can't take a trip to Halifax without seeing its magnificent waterfront. The Halifax Harbor is located in the heart of the city and offers lots of fun things to do. Pier 21 is located in the south end of the boardwalk and is a large immigration museum and historical site. At the other end of the boardwalk is the Atlantic Maritime Museum where you can find a wide history of the aquatic life in the Atlantic Provinces.

The Halifax Boardwalk is known to be one of the world's longest boardwalks and stretches three kilometers along the harbor. There are numerous shops along the boardwalk where you can find everything from basic souvenirs, to musical instruments, to aquarium gravel. There is also a wide variety of restaurants that serve the freshest seafood around. In the summer months there are lots of live shows and street performers that do daily shows on the waterfront. Surrounding the boardwalk are some fantastic scenic areas that are perfect for some east coast photography. Many people get group photos taken as part of a graduation ceremony or a bride may trot down there in her Alfred Sung wedding gown to get the great waterside backdrop. No matter the occasion, the Halifax boardwalk is a must to add to your Halifax to do list.

Whether you are going to vacation to Halifax for the week to take in some of the culture the east coast has to provide or if you are planning on moving to this quaint waterside metropolis, Halifax has so much to offer for people of all ages.
